ANDREW - PATRICK LYNDEN

 

Andrew, along with Adele, only joined the group a few weeks ago when they were found by Steve.  The youngest of the group, he wants to prove to everyone he can stand up and fight alongside them, but he lacks that mindset to really put himself into a danger.  On meeting Nick he has seen an opportunity to learn from someone who he admires.  Despite Adeles words, he is unable to see the danger that Nick brings about and instead sees him as a hero, a soldier, the person he wants to be.  Steve tries to keep him away, often including him when he is filming, but Andrew wants to step up.  Maybe it's to do with the loss of everyone he loved, the fact that he didn't/couldn't do anything to save them.  Whatever the reasons, following Nick could lead him down a road he lives to regret.

 

Patrick Lynden was a last minute addition to the story thanks to a powerful audition.  A new character of Andrew was written a few weeks prior to shooting.  The character needed to grow and change throughout the story and Andrew played this perfectly, himself growing with confidence as shooting went on.  In the end he delivers a character that audiences seem to connect with most of all.
